News - 2011

Monday 25th July

Lots to report again and this time it's all about the new boy Olly, see his photo on the front page :-)

We took him to Windsor where he won a very strong Minor Puppy class under breed judge Mr Mervyn Reynolds, Tara was also second in Open Bitch. The following Wednesday to Cotswold & Wyvern Championship Show and we only took Olly, but he again triumphed in Minor Puppy Dog and also won Novice :-) He ended the day going BMPIS, a lovely day out.

Next up was Blackwood Open Show where Olly was winning his class and also going on to BOB, BP, G3 and PG2. He went one better at Neath & Port Talbot Open Show where he was BOB, BP, PG1 and BPIS under judges Zara Boyle and Carl Sparrow respectively, making it a day to remember Ed's new Dalmatian puppy went RBPIS!

We hope to update more soon, Doug will be back out in August after his enforced break due to all the shows in July charging admission, the joys of a legally docked dog! :-)

Finally see the Current Litters page for details of some new arrivals!!

Thursday 23rd June

Such a busy time at the moment the shows and weeks are all rolling into 1! We took Doug and Tara to Three Counties where Doug won Open Dog and won the RCC :-)

Next up was Border Union where we left at 12.30am and got to the show for 7.30 looking worse for wear :-) Doug was second in a strong Open Dog class under Jean Byrne (Enryb) before triumphing in a competitive ch stakes class......panic insues to organise a dog sitter for the following day, accommodation for us in Kelso and somewhere to buy some clothes as we weren't intending an overnight stay!! After a few manic phone calls all was organised and we stayed over with Doug winning Runner Up overall to a Border Collie :-)

Thursday 9th June

Well its been a fantastic week here! :-) At Bath Doug won his second CC and BOB in six days under judge Jane Wright (Hoftsetter) and then went on to a Group 4 placing under Chris Bexon!! Tara won the RCC her 6th under breed specialist Marilyn Nightingale (Boothgates).

Next up was Southern Counties and Tara took her 14th CC and BOB under breed specialist Tony Floyd before going on to a spectacular Group 2 under American judge Ron Menaker. Thanks to everyone for the support :-)

Friday 27th May

Last week the puppies made their debut at the Labrador Club of Wales Open Show under Becci Hodge (Naiken). Olly was first up and won his first Minor Puppy Class, then also won Maiden and was ultimately BPD & RBPIS, sister Violet won her class too, so a nice start :-)

This week we made the long trek up to SKC, results wise we had a great day. Doug won his first CC and BOB under Mrs McKay and was then group short listed under Pam Blay. Tara also won the CC & BOB, her thirteenth under Mr John Thirwell.

We also took Gin (F.Pussy Galore) and she won Open gaining her stud book no, adding to this both her daughters won their classes and Incahoots at Galicar also beat her to the RCC! :-) On the downside the car is in the garage having lost a fight with a deer, thankfully we are all ok!!

Also a new photo of Colin on the beach in Spain where he is enjoying a successful campaign with Jose and his family :-)

Monday 28th March

Well it's been another gap since we've written, the fantastic weather has meant that we've been enjoying the spring sunshine, the dogs are loving it!

Crufts has been and gone, we only took Tara on Gundog day and she took 2nd in a huge Open class (34 entries) with some super quality bitches from all over the world and was only beaten by the eventual BOB winner. One highlight was managing to get Erica in a photo and she smiled....well almost!!!

Last weekend was Three Ridings Ch Show and although we didn't have a great day Gaffer's daughter Linjor Rhianna won 2 classes and completed her JW, the second from the litter and not 12 months old yet (see her on Gaffer's progeny page).

We are having a break for a few weeks now but look forward to getting Doug out in early April. Great news that the first bitch he mated since his arrival is definitely in whelp and is due next week :-)

Wednesday 23rd February

It's been a while since we did an update, things are mad here as ever here and it's been a busy few weeks! Richard has been busy judging a retriever show in Germany where he really enjoyed doing Labradors, then the following week a short dash to Scotland where he was judging Gundog and Terrier Breeds both Groups and BIS! We've just got back from judging in Newark and next he is off to Belgium again doing Labradors at Hoogstraten Championship Show. :-)

The puppies from our Betty x Gaffer litter are all spoken for and heading off to their new homes. Photos of ours will follow really soon and also have a look at our Planned Litters page for details of the forthcoming puppies planned here at Farnfield.

We went to the Labrador Club of Wales Ch Show where Tara won a very strong Open class but disappointingly didn't go any further.

Doug has been out to the local Cardiff 2 day Open Show where he was BOB & G1 under breed specialist Ms Marian Waddell (Magregor). He is settling in really well and we look forward to the first of the shows on grass! See the new pics on his page.

Wednesday 19th January

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of the beautiful NZ CH Carnmellis Hot Dicketty Dog at Gunalt (AI) (Imp NZ) to the UK. Doug arrived with us in early January and has settled in very well, he has been imported with good friends Patsy and Stephen Hollings to introduce some interesting new bloodlines to the UK.

Doug is already a multiple group winner in his native NZ and we look forward to having him out on the campaign trail in 2011. For full pedigree and more details see Doug’s page.
